Join internationally acclaimed artist Margaret Evans in March 2012 for a five-day workshop in the South Carolina “Low Country”, a charming and historic area which boasts beautiful subjects in nature, architecture, landscapes, and waterscapes.
Margaret will combine a three-day pastel and a two-day mixed media class. Attend either workshop or join your host for both. Meet your instructor and fellow artists in a quiet and relaxed social setting amid Live Oak trees and Spanish Moss, overlooking a salt marsh and the Broad River.
Bring your pastels of all shapes, sizes & brands and Margaret will teach you how to get the best results from your pastel painting techniques. Covering soft & hard types, wet & dry techniques, there will be opportunities to learn to sketch outdoors at nearby locations, how to keep your kit simple for travelling, as well as studio sessions at Palm Key’s excellent facilities. Landscape will be covered, as well as requests for flowers /still life / portrait & figures.
As an extension to the pastel workshop, or on it's own, this is a chance to bring your favourite media and learn how to develop techniques, working with them individually or learning to work them together, such as Margaret's acclaimed gallery works in Pastels/Gouache, Pen/Wash & Watercolours, Oils and/or Acrylics.
Each workshop day will begin with a full breakfast served in Smax’ dining hall, followed by a lively morning session with Margaret in Palm Key’s on-site art and activity center, Gayle’s. The afternoon workshop will be conducted between lunch and dinner, also served in Smax’.
Enjoy free time at sunrise or each evening by taking a walk along the marsh, hiking Palm Key’s miles of nature trails, bird-watching, or simply curling up with a good book on a porch with a million-dollar view. Palm Key is a great place to get in touch with your own thoughts.
A single fee includes workshop attendance and on-site room & board (based on double occupancy). Artist materials and transportation to and from Palm Key are not included.
Limited to 22 participants. Contact your workshop hosts, Palm Key, to reserve your spot.
